Altered Perceptions
Robin Wiltse

In this body of work, Kaslo artist, Robin Wiltse, reflects on the death of her daughter and the profound shift in perception that grief can bring. Through, often large scale felted visual storytelling, she explores the search for healing and the ways loss reshapes our relationship to the natural world. Drawing on historical botany, folklore, myth, and legend, this work considers how earlier cultures tried to understand life, death, and healing through both medicine and magic. These traditions offer a lens through which personal experience can be transformed into image, symbol, and narrative. While grief is one of the most universal human experiences, it is often rarely spoken about in contemporary culture. This work creates space for that conversation, inviting viewers to reflect on loss, memory, and the ways people seek meaning and renewal after profound change.
